About this site
Okama Wan (御釜湾) is a boat site on Shikinejima in the Izu Islands, Tokyo, where hot-spring water bubbles up through white sand, hot enough to feel by pushing a hand into the sand. Guitarfish and large rays live on the sand and turtles sometimes rest here; maximum depth 23 m, average around 5–10 m, suitable from beginner level, with slight current. Waspfish, pinecone fish, Moorish idols, bannerfish, flounder and anemonefish are also typical.
