Tank Salvage

Tank Salvage (タンクサルベージ) is a shore-entry reef on Tanegashima in Kagoshima Prefecture with a maximum depth of 15 m, named after the salvage dives made here to recover an oil tank that fell from a ship in rough seas. Cars can be driven almost to the shore, though reaching the water means crossing large rocks, and the entry starts after a short surface swim using a table coral as the marker. The dive descends slowly from a rock ledge at 5 m, passes over boulders and reaches sand, where cowries and other shells are scattered about. Suitable from beginner level.
