About this site
Three Trees is a dive site off Bangu Island in the Similan Islands archipelago, part of Phang Nga province in southern Thailand. The Similans sit in the Andaman Sea and are reached by boat, usually on liveaboard trips or day excursions from Khao Lak or Phuket, with granite boulder formations characteristic of the island group's underwater terrain. The reef here reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres, runs a light current, and is rated a beginner dive. Barracuda, nudibranchs, and trevally are regularly seen on the reef, and divers have also reported angelfish, anthias, batfish, fusiliers, snapper, sweetlips, lobster, and pipefish among the coral and boulders. Larger and more unusual sightings such as leopard sharks, reef sharks, manta rays, sea turtles, Napoleon wrasse, and even whale sharks have been noted here as well, though these are less consistent finds.
