About this site
Tsubogase (壷ヶ瀬) is the northernmost site in the Goto Islands, a boat dive in the Kamigoto area of Nagasaki Prefecture with a maximum depth of 40 m and an average around 18 m, suitable from novice level. It is a drop-off falling to about 40 m, with an arch at 22 m where cardinalfish and jacks school. Beyond the arch there are large schools of chicken grunt, yellowtail and amberjack, schools of spawning red sea bream from May to July, and a good chance of eagle ray schools towards summer, with the occasional devil ray. The site becomes undiveable in autumn when the seasonal winds set in.
