About this site
Dontaku (ドンタク) is a submerged pinnacle next to Mitsuse in the Kamigoto area of the Goto Islands, Nagasaki Prefecture, dived by boat from 3 m to a maximum depth of 30 m with an average around 15 m, suitable from novice level. Soft coral and table coral are packed with colourful small reef fish, and the festival-like scene gave the site its name, after Hakata's Dontaku festival. The reef can be circled slowly in one dive while picking out different creatures, and large flounder are also seen.
