About this site
Wavebreak Island sits within the Gold Coast Seaway area of southeastern Queensland, a man-made island between the Gold Coast Broadwater and the Pacific Ocean, near the Southport and Main Beach shoreline. The seaway channel here connects the Nerang River system to the ocean and is a popular spot for local boat traffic heading out from the Broadwater. Diving around the island is shallow, reaching only around 5 metres, and rated as a beginner site. Divers have also reported dolphins passing through the area.
