About this site
Hirane (平根) is a boat-dive site at Zushi on the Shonan coast of Kanagawa, five minutes from the harbour, with a maximum depth of 18 m, where van-sized boulders are scattered across sand. It suits beginners, though the sandy bottom makes buoyancy control and fin technique important. Rare current; suitable from beginner level. It is mainly a macro site with many nudibranchs and crustaceans, and red stingrays, eagle rays and, occasionally, a Japanese bullhead shark from a known resting hole are seen.
