About this site
Big Mountain (ビッグマウンテン) is a dive site in the Makurazaki and Bonotsu area of Kagoshima Prefecture, with a maximum depth of 18 m and an average around 10 m, suitable from beginner level. A large rock 15 m high rises abruptly from the sand, and circling it slowly reveals a wide range of life. Nudibranchs and blennies are especially diverse, with rare nudibranchs turning up often, and the resident school of batfish and sea turtles are seen regularly.
