About this site
Komori Wreck (小森沈船) is a wreck dive at Takeshima, dived from the Makurazaki and Bonotsu area of Kagoshima Prefecture, with a maximum depth of 40 m and an average around 20 m, for intermediate divers and above. Descending the drop-off between Komori No. 1 and No. 2 brings the wreck into view at around 35 to 40 m. It is a 700-ton, 40 m cargo ship that sank in the late 1950s and now lies in three sections. Four kinds of anthias, yellowfin goatfish, bluestripe snapper and groupers school around it, garden eels poke out of the sand and a Napoleon wrasse has appeared.
