Cargo Ishi

Cargo Ishi (カーゴ石) is a boat-dive site 7 minutes out from Usami, Ito, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 19 m and an average around 15 m, suitable from beginner level, with current at times. It is the northernmost of the three Usami boat sites and the sand lies closest to the buoy, only about 2 minutes' swim, with the sand edge at around 18 m; the current generally runs north to south, so it is the usual starting point for a drift to Kasa Ne or Manbo Ne. Green sea turtles, Japanese bullhead sharks, angel sharks and banded houndsharks are seen year-round, anemonefish live on the anemones, shrimp gobies share burrows with pistol shrimp, and the whip corals and sea fans along the edge carry whip-coral shrimp, Ortmann's shrimp, ghost gobies and, in winter and spring, seahorses.
