About this site
Nekozame Jo (ネコザメ城) is a shore-entry site at Usami, Ito, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 14 m and an average around 8 m, intermediate and above with no current, using the beach slope, surface rope and guide rope. It is reached by following the sand edge east from the beach, marked by a hockey mask fixed to the rock. From around December to April about ten Japanese bullhead sharks are usually gathered here, and the soft coral cover is unusually rich for a shore site, with plenty of nudibranchs and crustaceans; the distance from the entry makes it a site for divers with good air consumption.
