Manbo Ne

Manbo Ne (マンボ根) is a boat-dive site 5 minutes out from Usami, Ito, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 25 m and an average around 15 m, suitable from beginner level, with current at times. It is the southernmost and deepest of the three Usami boat sites, so it is often the first dive of the day and is used for deep training; the buoy sits at 12 m and the rope runs down a 5–6 minute swim to the sand edge at around 25 m, with 30 m available further out. The rock that gives the site its name lies 1–2 minutes north of the buoy, covered in purple soft coral, and holds anthias, cardinalfish and sweepers year-round, with frogfish nearby, plentiful nudibranchs and crustaceans, autumn schools of jack, chicken grunt and yellowtail, and ocean sunfish in winter, most often seen during descent or the safety stop.
