About this site
Hanare Ne (はなれ根), also known as Bunbun Asane, is a pinnacle site a two-hour boat run from Chichijima in the Ogasawara Islands, Tokyo, with a maximum depth of 30 m and an average around 20 m. The top of the rock sits at 18 m and the site catches the tide. Dense schools of Guenther's butterflyfish and schooling bannerfish fill the water, with dogtooth tuna and triggerfish also present; the current is strong and the site is for advanced divers only.
