About this site
Futagobae (双子バエ) is the closest offshore boat site to shore at Nango on the Nichinan coast of Miyazaki Prefecture, 5 minutes from harbour, with depths from 5 to 25 m and often dived in winter. The main rock is split by a fissure and holds schools of cardinalfish, silver-stripe round herring, horse mackerel and amberjack in the hundreds, plus shrimps, crabs, nudibranchs and giant frogfish. Metre-wide sea fans are the standout feature. Little current; suitable from beginner level.
