About this site
Takenoshiri Fish Reef (竹ノ尻漁礁) is an artificial-reef site at Nango in Nichinan, Miyazaki Prefecture, ten minutes by boat, with a maximum depth of 20 m and an average around 10 m, suitable from beginner level, with little current. Man-made fish-reef structures spread over a wide area, sheltering schools of fish, shrimps and crabs, and away from them the sand holds gobies. Schools of barracuda, fusiliers and snappers, shrimp gobies, damselfish and cleaner shrimp are seen, and the site was once well known for jawfish.
