About this site
Gohonmatsu (五本松) is a boat-dived reef off Nango on the Nichinan coast of Miyazaki Prefecture, 10 minutes from harbour, with depths from 5 to 30 m. Soft coral spreads across the site with colourful tropical fish, damselfish, anthias and schools of silver-stripe round herring in the sunlit shallows, while the deeper section holds shrimps, crabs and nudibranchs. Pygmy seahorses, a jawfish at 15 m, groupers, Ortmann's shrimp and Bishamon shrimp are among the macro life. Little current; suitable from beginner level.
