About this site
Gangaze Jo (ガンガゼ城) is a boat-dived reef off Nango on the Nichinan coast of Miyazaki Prefecture, 5 minutes from harbour, with depths from 5 to 25 m. Two large rocks stand in sand with cardinalfish schooling between them, and the many long-spined sea urchins that give the site its name shelter a good variety of shrimps and crabs. It is sheltered from westerly winds and is dived often in winter, and it is known for the Pikachu nudibranch (Thecacera pacifica), along with schooling bannerfish, silver-stripe round herring and largescale blackfish. Little current; recommended for Advanced divers.
