About this site
Hanadai (ハナダイ) is an open-water site at Nango in Nichinan, Miyazaki Prefecture, just under 20 minutes by boat, with a maximum depth of 35 m and an average around 3 m, recommended for advanced-certified divers, with current at times. Two large reefs sit side by side with imposing topography, and schools of medium-sized fish and many angelfish gather around them. As the name suggests, anthias are abundant, making it a calmer dive for an offshore site. It has the area's highest number of thresher shark sightings, with surgeonfish, opaleye, emperor and semicircle angelfish and nudibranchs also seen.
