About this site
Hayakawa Beach (早川 ビーチ) is a shore-entry site at Hayakawa, Odawara, on the western side of Sagami Bay in Kanagawa, with a maximum depth of 15 m and an average around 7–8 m, suitable from beginner level. The entry is a small cove formed by tetrapods, beyond which a flat, rippled sand bottom opens out, making it a common training site; a guide rope and a 30 m training rope are laid. An artificial reef at 10 m about 100 m out gathers seasonal schools of jack, amberjack and yellowtail, the sand holds butterfly rays, sharks and the rare rosy wrasse, and from December lumpsuckers appear on the rocks along with frogfish and bigfin reef squid spawning in season.
