About this site
Oura (大浦) is a dive site on the inner side of Oura bay at Iojima, about 90 minutes by boat from Makurazaki harbour in Kagoshima Prefecture, with a maximum depth of 20 m and an average around 15 m, suitable from beginner level. The dive circles the large reefs scattered across the bay. Rainbow runner and dogtooth tuna are the big fish, with colourful schools of anthias and butterflyfish and angelfish such as emperor angelfish, giving something for novices through to experienced divers.
