About this site
Yakurose (ヤクロ瀬) is a wall dive in the middle of the Kuroshio Current, 30 minutes south of Iojima and about 120 minutes by boat from Makurazaki harbour in Kagoshima Prefecture, with a maximum depth of 30 m and an average around 15 m, for intermediate divers and above. Strong water flow brings large pelagics, sharks and big schools of fusiliers, and visibility is consistently over 30 m for drift diving. There is a front course along a drop-off falling to 60 to 80 m and a back course drifting around a huge reef. It is dived only when conditions allow.
