About this site
The schooner J.H. Tiffany was struck by the propeller Milwaukee on a dark night in November 1859. She was badly damaged, and the crew tried to beach her on Skillagallee. The ship sank too quickly, and they crew had to take to the rigging as the yawl boat was badly damaged. The survivors were rescued by the Free State after she had recovered the crew of the Milwaukee, sinking at the collision site. Lies in about 31.4 m; sank 1859.
