About this site
The propeller Milwaukee was in a collision with the schooner J.H. Tiffany during the night of November 29, 1859. The Milwakee struck the Tiffany abreast the foremast, badly damaging the schooner, but was badly injured herself when the Tiffany swung around as the Milwaukee withdrew. Both vessels sank. The Milwaukee was salvaged, with her engines and boilers being recovered. Much damage was done to the vessel to get at the engines. Lies in about 29.3 m; sank 1859.
