About this site
Kasago Ne (カサゴ根) is a boat-dive site at Shobuzawa, Kawazu, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 25 m, intermediate and above, with slight current. Rocks of various sizes stand on white sand, and the main feature is the soft coral colony on the east side of the reef; pinecone fish, parrotfish, sheepshead wrasse and longtooth grouper hide in the gaps in the rock. Winter brings many nudibranchs, close to ten species in a dive, while summer current pushes large schools of chicken grunt through along with bigfin reef squid and jack, and yellowtail, amberjack, striped beakfish and whip-coral shrimp are also seen.
