About this site
Sakai Point (サカイポイント) is a shallow boat-dive site at Yatsu, Kawazu, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 13 m and an average around 5–6 m, suitable from beginner level with no current. The bottom is boulders and sand, and the lack of current makes it the easiest boat dive in the area and a good place to practise buoyancy. Sea turtles and lumpsuckers are seen in winter, eagle rays and Japanese bullhead sharks in summer, with cardinalfish, anthias and nudibranchs year-round.
