About this site
Shobuzawa Beach Mae (ビーチ前) is a shore-entry site at Shobuzawa, Kawazu, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 17 m, suitable from beginner level with no current. The concrete entry and exit slope is used for training, the bottom shelves gently with little change in terrain, and buoys and an artificial reef give useful landmarks for divers navigating on their own for the first time. Species turn over strongly with the seasons, and butterfly rays, red stingrays and Izu stingrays can appear, along with lumpsuckers, frogfish, anemonefish, Japanese bullhead sharks, seahorses, ghost pipefish, spiny lobster, nudibranchs, razorfish and threespot dascyllus.
