About this site
Benten (弁天) is a boat-dive site at Katsuura on the Boso Peninsula, Chiba, five minutes from Nagairi harbour, with a maximum depth of 25 m and an average around 12 m. A large reef sits beside a clean white sand bottom, and the site is strong on macro life. Current rarely enters, so it serves as the sheltered option on windy days; suitable from beginner level. Nudibranchs of many kinds, seahorses, frogfish, pinecone fish, anthias and damselfish are typical.
