About this site
Kuroiwa (黒岩) is a boat-dive pinnacle at Namegawa in Katsuura on the Boso Peninsula, Chiba, with a maximum depth of 14 m and comparatively little current. The area around the buoy is enclosed by reef and allows unhurried fish watching, while outside the reef the schools gather: horse mackerel and takabe, plus amberjack, yellowtail and yellowtail amberjack. Some current when it runs; suitable from beginner level. A tunnel large enough to swim through adds topography, and Japanese bullhead sharks and banded houndsharks are seen.
