About this site
Kurio (栗生) is a shore-entry reef on Yakushima in Kagoshima Prefecture, with a maximum depth of 20 m and an average of around 10 m, and one of the island's best terrain dives. Beyond the channels lie patches of clean sand with good visibility year-round, and the shallows carry dense coral. Large schools of yellow-and-blueback fusiliers, spotted eagle rays and other pelagics and schooling fish are the targets. Current present; intermediate and above.
