About this site
Motoura (元浦) is a shore-entry reef on Yakushima in Kagoshima Prefecture, with a maximum depth of 12 m and an average of 5–8 m. The terrain is shallow and undramatic but fish variety is high, with anemonefish, blue damselfish, panda coral gobies, schooling barracuda, semicircle and emperor angelfish and porcupinefish, plus frequent sea turtles. No current; suitable from beginner level and used for snorkelling, try dives, courses and refresher dives.
