About this site
Monguchi (モングチ) is a boat-dive site at Shobuzawa, Kawazu, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 18 m, suitable from beginner level with no current. Three huge, steep-sided rocks stand in a row on a wide expanse of white sand, each carrying kelp and soft coral that reward a slow search for macro life. Garden eels, guitarfish and small groups of porcupinefish are found on the sand, with eagle rays, red stingrays, white trevally and chicken grunt also seen, and the clean sand makes it a good site for simply hovering.
