About this site
Muro Asane (ムロ浅根) is a pinnacle site 20 minutes by boat from Chichijima in the Ogasawara Islands, Tokyo, with a maximum depth of 30 m and an average around 14 m. Pygmy seahorses are found at around 20 m, and the black anemonefish typical of Ogasawara are dotted across the rock alongside damselfish and fusiliers. The site takes the full force of the tide, so dives are timed for slack water; the current is strong and it is for advanced divers only.
