About this site
Cod Hole sits at Ribbon Reef #10 on the northern end of the Great Barrier Reef off far north Queensland, Australia, a spot usually reached on liveaboard trips out of Cairns or Port Douglas. It is best known for its resident potato cod, large and famously approachable groupers that divers can encounter at close range. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 12 metres and is considered a beginner-friendly dive.
