About this site
Jinja (ローソク岩の神社) is a boat-dive site beside the Rosoku-iwa sea stack off Yoichi on the Shakotan coast of Hokkaido, about five minutes from Yunai fishing harbour, with a maximum depth of 19 m and an average around 12 m. The water is about 11 m under the boat; rock surrounds the stack and a short distance away the sand is dotted with artificial fish reefs that shelter a wide range of life. Current at times; suitable from beginner/novice level. Fat greenling, rockfish, striped beakfish, red sea bream, anglerfish, flatfish, atka mackerel, octopus, pipefish and filefish are typical.
