About this site
Tekkui Point (テックイポイント) is a boat-dive site on the Shakotan Peninsula in Hokkaido, seventeen minutes from Horomui harbour, with a maximum depth of 28 m and an average around 18 m. It is a seasonal site dived from June to the end of August, when large spawning olive flounder, many of them 80–90 cm and some over a metre, lie stacked on a tilted slab of columnar basalt. Strong current; intermediate and above. Atka mackerel and giant Pacific octopus appear from late October and Steller sea lions from mid-November.
