About this site
Ura no Kuchi (浦の口) is a boat dive at Ugurushima in Sukumo Bay, Kochi, with a maximum depth of 35 m and an average around 10 m. It has one of the best records for large animals off Ugurushima: a reef at 20 m draws fish of all sizes, threadfin trevally are seen with good regularity, and in early spring marbled stingrays over a metre across are common. The deeper sand holds purple firefish and other deep-water dartfish, with ribbon eels, emperor angelfish, pygmy seahorses, longnose hawkfish and juvenile boxfish among the smaller residents. Current only very occasionally, suitable from beginner level with plenty for advanced divers.
